Afterimage Log
someone’s Memory is a still image extracted from the records of Afterimage Log.
In Afterimage Log, viewers stand before a button and look at the system.
Moments are recorded in the same place, yet, as viewers are, the image is an overlapping of different memories and times. The system, rather, aims at designing a device that assumes the unpredictable memories of others, and the extraction of images explores the structure just before a memory is born.
Viewers experience someone’s memory in the moment a recorded image meets their own memory. Yet the image is less an attempt to convey someone’s memory than a medium through which viewers, on their own, organize present perception from the memory they already carry. That organized perception becomes the condition for new memory in turn, and someone’s afterimage becomes yet another someone’s memory, and circulates.
