Statement

Afterimage Log

My work is concerned less with individual images than with the ways relationships are formed between them.

Rather than treating photography as a self-contained final outcome, I approach it as a system in which memory, documentation, observation, and recurring signals are interconnected. Each project exists independently, yet simultaneously connects with others to generate new meanings.

Instead of discovering a single, fixed interpretation, viewers are invited to create their own connections between images and pieces of information that initially appear unrelated. It is through this process that I believe memory is activated and meaning begins to emerge.

This exhibition is structured around three central axes: relationships, records, and repetition with signals.

Constellation explores relationships. By placing images that seem to have no direct connection side by side, it investigates how new associations and meanings are produced. Each image exists like an individual star, but through the viewer's memories and experiences they become connected, forming constellations.

Residue focuses on records. Discarded chewing gum, used medication, and abandoned traces are not merely physical objects but records left behind by human actions. Rather than emphasizing the objects themselves, the work examines the traces they leave and the relationships they imply.

Neurosis examines repetition and signals. It collects recurring elements such as emergency exits, guiding lines, signs, and warning symbols to observe the structures and systems we unconsciously follow. Here, anxiety and neurosis are understood not simply as individual psychological conditions, but as manifestations of broader social systems of signals.

Afterimage Log occupies the point where these projects converge. Viewers begin as observers of recorded traces, but at a certain moment they themselves become part of the record. The project expands the relationship between memory, documentation, and observation through a video installation.

Although each project takes a different form, they ultimately converge on a single question:

How does an image become memory? How does memory become a record? And how do those records, in turn, create new relationships?
