Afterimage Log는 관찰, 인지, 번역을 통해 질서가 생성되는 과정을 탐구하는 영상 설치 작업이다.
세 개의 병렬 시스템은 끊임없이 신호를 주고받는다. 하나는 탐색하고, 하나는 숨겨진 패턴을 드러내며, 다른 하나는 번역된 결과를 기록한다. 관객은 흩어진 정보가 점차 일시적인 구조를 형성해 가는 과정을 따라가게 된다.
단색 필드는 지속되는 우주의 질서를 나타내고, 짧게 등장하는 색면 이벤트는 인간이 인지한 질서를 나타낸다. 유사성과 근접성은 흩어진 형태들을 잠시 하나의 구조로 조직하지만, 그 질서는 다시 해체된다.
특정한 순간 관객은 버튼을 눌러 시스템에 개입할 수 있다. 그 순간 실시간 영상이 캡처되어 아카이브에 등록되며, 관객은 기록을 바라보는 관찰자에서 기록되는 대상의 위치로 전환된다.
Afterimage Log는 단순히 이미지를 보여주는 작업이 아니라, 신호가 인지가 되고, 인지가 기록이 되며, 관찰이 다시 관찰자 자신에게 되돌아오는 순환을 다루는 작업이다.
Afterimage Log is a video installation that explores how order emerges through observation, perception, and translation.
Three parallel systems continuously exchange signals. One searches, another reveals hidden patterns, and the third records the translated results. Viewers follow the process through which dispersed information gradually forms a temporary structure.
The monochromatic field represents the enduring order of the universe, while the brief appearances of colored events represent the order perceived by human cognition. Similarity and proximity temporarily organize scattered forms into coherent structures, yet those structures inevitably dissolve again.
At a specific moment, viewers can intervene in the system by pressing a button. Their live image is captured and registered in the archive, shifting their position from an observer of the record to a subject who is recorded.
Rather than simply presenting images, Afterimage Log explores a cyclical process in which signals become perception, perception becomes a record, and observation ultimately returns to the observer.
